Event Overview

Understanding the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the U.S. government’s small business program is crucial for small businesses seeking to enter or expand within the federal marketplace. This training presentation is designed to provide small business owners and their representatives with a comprehensive overview of the FAR, which serves as the primary rulebook governing federal contracting. The session will demystify the structure and key parts of the FAR, highlight important clauses and compliance requirements, and offer practical strategies for navigating the regulation more confidently and effectively.

In addition, the presentation will explore the federal government’s robust small business programs, detailing eligibility requirements, set-aside contracts, and resources available to small enterprises. Attendees will learn about the various categories including 8(a), HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVOSB), and Women-Owned (WOSB) Small Business programs, to better understand how certifications can unlock new contracting opportunities. Step-by-step guidance will clarify how to leverage these programs to enhance competitive positioning and maximize the potential for federal contract awards.

The training will conclude with insights into best practices for maintaining compliance and building successful relationships with federal agencies. Real-world examples and interactive discussion will empower small businesses to avoid common pitfalls and operate with greater confidence in the federal procurement environment. Participants will leave with actionable knowledge, increased awareness of federal contracting opportunities, and a roadmap to further engage with government acquisition professionals and resources.
